What is a Special Librarian?
The special librarian adds value to their organization by providing efficient and effective information services for a defined group of customers. The unique contributions of the special librarian include expertise in the content and selection of the best available print and electronic information resources as well as a commitment to putting knowledge to work or, in other words, linking the information user with the right information resource at the right time.
Our Mission
We provide students interested in special librarianship:
- opportunities to meet librarians in the field;
- firsthand knowledge of special libraries through field trips and lectures;
- career preparation to enter the workforce or gain new skills;
- interaction with fellow students.
