United by the ambition of youth and by our devotion to making our world a more Christlike place, Pax Christi dedicates itself to a renewal of peace and social justice in our campus community and in our world. Our work surrounds three major tenets:

Faith

Though our group is open to members of all faiths, Pax Christi finds its roots in the practice and doctrine of the Catholic Church. From our own backgrounds, we also seek to branch out and understand representations of the Universal Life Ethic amongst all the faithful. Past faith events have included:

    Annual group retreat in January
Masses and rosaries to commemorate those lives lost on all sides in the Iraqi conflict
Reflection on the theologies of peace present in all religions

Advocacy

We believe that the injustices present around the world require our immediate attention. Pax Christi works in the Washington area and elsewhere to ensure that our voices will be heard. Past advocacy events have included:

Annual protest at the School of the Americas in Ft. Benning, Georgia

Participation in Catholic University's International Week

Organization of school-wide demonstration of support for the UN's Millenium Development Goals

Education

We believe that educating ourselves and our community to social injustice is often the first step towards taking action. Pax Christi both attends and plans various events throughout the year to make ourselves aware of these important issues. Past educational events have included:

Monthly "Clarification of Thought" lecture series at the DC Dorothy Day Catholic Worker House
Distribution of Catholic voter guides in university student center
    Inter-group discussion lead by members
